What would happen if koalas hadn’t trees to hang on to? And what if we could divorce using only three words? Here are our most read articles of the week. Enjoy!
Why do Koalas hug trees? By Paola Iotti
Breathing in while walking through a wood is an incredibly pleasing sensation.
There are some specific activities that can connect men with nature, activities like walking.
Breathing is one of the most powerful activities to do: woods’ air contains huge amounts of oxygen’s negative ions which stimulates and balance body, mind and soul.
The blood flow recovers, the red blood cells increase in number, the immune system gets stronger: sleeping gets better and ageing is prevented.
The level of stress decreases, concentration and relaxing improves.
These activities are called “forest bathing” in Europe, while in Japan they are called “shinrin-yoku” to indicates a place in the forest which is wealthy, something like a zen therapy, an activity of active meditation.
Men, animals and plants are very sensitive to natural electromagnetism of biosphere: water is one of the most powerful bio energetic elements. At the same time, trees improve the energy of the environment.
Illness could be considered as something that reacts to the negativity of the place we live in: plants help us to recover from it and give balance to our body.
“Forest bathing” suggests to hug a tree and to feel its touch on our skin, smelling its natural odour.
American and Australian scientists have discovered that Koalas hug trees to refresh: the cold surface of the tree absorbs the heath for conducted.
Some trees are considered to be more energetic than others; in some different cultures, the pine is a symbol of eternity and longevity.
There is a beautiful pine forest in Tuscany, threatened by an American insect (Leptoglossus Occidentalis) that feeds itself by eating pine nut. This forest protects the surrounding lands from the weathering of winds and sea. Another dangerous creature for the pines is the Matsucoccus Feytaudi, which sucks the lymph from the Mediterranean trees. This parasite arrived in Europe from wood imported by the USA.
There is no cure for cut trees, they get dry and can provoke blazes in the summer because of the resin they are covered by.
A committee is trying to avoid the cut of the trees introducing other systems to eliminate the parasite. A practical example of a bio technical fight is what is being doing in San Rossore, near Pisa.
The male parasite are lured by hormones towards other plants which are immune to their action.
It is important to choose solutions which don’t affects a very delicate situation.
In Puglia, the bacterium Xylella was considered the main cause of the death of thousand of olive trees. But the cut of the plants, justified by the authorities with the excuse of the Xylella, was instead due to the fact that they were located in the area were a new methane pipeline was about to be built.
It is very sad that every year we walk through woods which contains even less trees. Day by day the pleasing atmosphere of the forest slowly disappears, easily replaced by sadness.
Koala are strongly connected with eucalypt plants because these are vital to their species.
Are we aware of the fact that we have a similar connection with trees?
British Escape. by Franco Giordano
Brexit caused an extraordinary sense of danger in every part of the Europe, apart from the UK itself.
But why Brexit happened? Farage believes that he’s the one that deserves the credit because of his xenophobic politic.
But the truth is that Bruxelles has an important part in this. The EU didn’t consider the importance of the Referendum firstly, then it tried to make a deal with Cameron. At last, they threatened the UK with the terrible consequences that Brexit would have caused.
But the real victim of the Brexit is the ex premier David Cameron who promised the Referendum during his election campaign and now he is forced to abandon the Government because he wanted the Uk to remain.
We don’t have to be desperate because of the Brexit: let’s learn something from Shakespeare’s Coriolano. “I’d rather heal my injuries than let some others tell me about them”.
Keep Calm and accept the Brexit. We are sure that sooner or later, the UK will be back.
Divorce, divorce, divorce. By Giulia D’Alterio
What would Italians think if only three words would be necessary to divorce?
It would be a revolution for our country.
But for now, it is only an Islamic tradition called “talaq”. It is possible to divorce saying for three times the word “talaq” which means “I repudiate you”. The divorce become official immediately, with no possibility to be cancelled.
It is a decision that men and men only can take, without considering what their wives think.
New technologies have improved the possibility to divorce: Arabic women could find messages on whatsup with the T word written for three times.
In too many religions women are loved, used and then thrown away as they were objects.
Emotionally involving dance. By Silvia Noli
I wrote about my first experience on the stage, being part for the first time of a beautiful dance show directed and choreographed by Paola Murgia and Francesca Solinas.
Girls and boys of all ages danced in an important Roman theatre, the “Vascello”.
We danced on Frank Sinatra’s music first, we became Vampires and Stars later.
The emotions were incredibly overwhelming: the stage became part of the choreography and it was interesting to realise that the public appreciated our steps, our movements.
But, first of all, we had fun and we loved every single step we moved.
They come around, unfortunately. By Rosario Rubrano
After 40 years, the dissolved political party AN (Avanguardia Nazionale) reunited to became part of the institutions again. What is dangerous about a reunion which could apparently seem a simple meeting, is the fact that the party was dissolved because it was illegal and because it praised the Fascism.
Right – winged parties seem to have a new role in our history nowadays. Trump in the USA, Haider in Austria, the Ellenic Front in Greece.
We hope they won’t achieve the same importance they had in the past.
